Hey guys! Pretty fantastic news because…Etsy is becoming brick ‘n mortar – starting TODAY for one month only. Etsy, the online marketplace for all things handmade, is partnering with arts and culture magazine Dossier Journal to host a month-long pop-up boutique known as Etsy x Dossier this September in New York City’s Lower East Side aaaand Fritz & Fräulein is one of over 30 designers selected to be a part of this curated collection! Ahhhh!!! <<cartwheel>> We. Are. Stoked. (to say the least)
Here’s the lowdown:
Etsy x Dossier Pop-up Shop September 4th through 28th, 2014 79 Delancey Street New York, NY 10002
Open daily, 1pm – 8pm
Dossier creative director Skye Parrott and collaborator Stephanie Tran are offering a curated selection of art, gifts, home and lifestyle goods by over 30 designers from Etsy Wholesale, Etsy’s new private, juried marketplace where retailers can source from professional designers. The temporary boutique is the latest in a series of art and design pop-ups the curators have staged in Lower Manhattan.
Etsy x Dossier will be open to the general public from September 4 to September 28. Visitors can shop the items and engage in three DIY Saturday workshops ranging from weaving to screen printing to homemade body scrubs. (Prior RSVP for the workshops is required.)
It’s Etsy (and us) – in real life! Come check out the goods!
Surprise! We’re having a pop-up shop at Renegade Brooklyn THIS weekend! Get your holiday shop on with us and over 200 artists & designers from all across the country. We’ll be at Booth #123 in the downstairs vault.
Details: 1 Hanson Place (across from Atlantic Terminal/Barclays Center), Brooklyn. Sat/Sun – Nov. 23rd & 24th, 11am-6pm. See you there!
Hope everyone is having a great Friday (and staying warm!)! We’re wrapping up the end of the week with a Fritz & Fräulein first – being featured on Etsy’s Front Page tonight! New Year’s Resolution: Blog More…than once every 3 months.
Oh dear readers, first of all, thank you for patience. The end of 2012 was an intense one and I couldn’t be more humbled by the amazingly warm reception my business, Fritz & Fräulein, received over the past few months from you, my dedicated New York, D.C. and Etsy customers around the world, as well as family and friends that have become family. Needless to say, business grew tremendously and consumed almost every waking moment for me. But…it was SO. completely. worth it. This truly has been the hardest but most rewarding experience of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
There’s no signs of letting up in 2013 but, as business expands, I’m learning to balance and delegate more (however hard that may prove to be for me!), while still staying true to the core of my business of creating beautiful, functional and sustainable pieces with exceptional attention to quality and detail. Fortunately, this means I’ll have more time to focus on sharing this adventure with you and expanding this site to include e-commerce (one of my goals for 2013). There is so much more I’d love to share about where my business is headed, but I will have to bite my tongue for the moment. The only thing I can say is that we’re going to be bringing you some really incredible pieces and have some amazing collaborations in store. Stay tuned…
What are you doing this weekend? Nothing? Great, because Crafts in Chelsea is THIS Saturday and I knowww you haven’t started your holiday shopping – yet. =)
What is Crafts in Chelsea you may ask? Another tube sock fair? Imported pashminas? Not even close. It’s only THE best handmade fair of the Fall put on by Etsy New York (and hey, it benefits PS 11 = even more awesome).
We’re shutting down 21st St. (between 8th and 9th Ave) and filling it with a curated lineup of the best in handmade. Over 100 handmade artists and delicious food vendors from all over the New York area (including yours truly) will be there with their latest collections for the Fall/Winter season. Simply a perrrfect jump start to the holiday shopping season while the weather is still lovely and Fall-like for a good ol’ Saturday stroll. And PS – Buying local and handmade makes you feel good by helping support small biz (and NY public schools) aaand ensures there will be no duplicate gift under the tree. Umm…win win? I think yes.
So what are the deets?
When?: Saturday, October 20th from 11am to 4pm
Where?: NYC (artsy ‘nabe Chelsea to be exact) on 21st St (btwn 8th & 9th Avenues)
How do I get there?: Subway*: 1 train to 7th Ave or C/E to 8th Ave; OR via the 23rd St Crosstown bus to 8th Ave
This week is a BIG one as we’re getting ready for Crafts in Chelsea this Saturday. I’m buried under piles of vintage fabric for new laptop and iPad sleeves as well as silk screens for our new vintage modern city pillows (debuting @ CiC!). More to come on that!
However, this Music Monday brings me back to my childhood and our living room song and dance sessions. I’ve selected one of my dad’s favorites, in honor of him reminding me, “You’re my daughter. We don’t quit. We Keep. On. PUSHING.” So dad, I’m listening and firing on all cylinders.
I hope you have someone in your life that positively inspires you to keep striving towards your goals and going after what you love. While I haven’t always had the support in all the decisions I’ve made, I’m very grateful today for my dad’s words of support and encouragement. So here’s to those people in your life that remind you to never give up and keep. on. pushing. Thanks dad.
ps – By the way, if you’re a Stones fan, they’ve just announced four concert dates in London and New York via their YouTube. Tickets to go on sale Oct 19th and 26th, respectively. Click here for more info.
